With over 21 years of experience teaching children how to swim, Chelsea began her journey in the water at just 13 years old, working under the woman who first taught her to swim—a legendary instructor with 50 years of experience. Each summer throughout high school and college, Chelsea returned to California to teach under her mentor, developing a deep respect for the art of swim instruction and the impact it has on families.
After getting married and starting a family of her own, Chelsea launched her own swim school in California. Her program quickly grew, thanks to her unique ability to connect with children and gently push them toward progress. Eventually, she and her husband fulfilled a lifelong dream: purchasing a home with a pool where Chelsea could teach lessons from home while raising her growing family.
In 2021, they made the move to North Idaho. Six months pregnant and determined to continue her passion, Chelsea found and transformed an old therapy pool into the perfect space for swim lessons. Thus, FLOAT Swim Academy was reborn—this time in Coeur d’Alene.
Chelsea specializes in private, one-on-one swim instruction, focusing on each child’s individual pace. Her five-day method is designed to deliver real, measurable progress in a short amount of time, while always prioritizing emotional safety and connection.
Now, after two full years of teaching in Idaho, Chelsea has seen an overwhelming increase in demand. With a growing population and heightened interest in her unique approach, she has trained two additional instructors in her five-day method—both of whom have experienced great success with their own students.
It’s Chelsea’s dream to continue teaching others how to teach in this same intentional and transformative way. She’s come to call it Five Day Magic—because when trust, patience, and skill come together, true magic happens in just five days.
